Are you tired of being greeted by those nasty power bills in your mailbox? Imagine if you will, never see one of those again? Well that scenario can be reality if you take the step of building your own DIY Solar Power Kit and produce your own free homemade energy source.

Many households would like to change over their energy supply from electricity to solar after all it is free energy. The reason most do not take this step is the costs can be quite prohibitive. Retail Solar energy systems will cost you anywhere up to $20,000 depending on the size and energy needs of your house. Fortunately there are now a number of DIY (do it yourself) solutions available that can be assembled and installed for around $200 with materials you can find in your local hardware depot or junk yard.

Having built my own DIY solar power kit I can report that our energy usage is now only a fraction of what it used to be, we conservatively estimate we have cut 60% off our quarterly power bill, this equates to some very nice savings. Our goal, as we produce our next batch of homemade panels, is to reduce it by a further 80%, a figure that is achievable according to most of the better DIY guides you can find.

Of course using solar energy as our primary energy source in our home means that we not only save quite a tidy sum of money but we are also doing our bit to help the environment. Solar energy is what's known as "green energy", it's environmentally friendly and as we are reducing our use of harmful energy it gives the earth a chance to recover.
